PRIZE 2018

 

The winner of the Bremen Regional Prize will receive:

  • A EUR 5,000 cash prize provided by StartHaus Bremen*
  • One year of rent-free co-working space at BITZ Bremen (Bremer Innovations- und Technologiezentrum) sponsored by StartHaus Bremen*
  • Two days of tailored one-on-one business coaching provided by experts from Aviaspace and Starthaus Bremen
  • Aviaspace business breakfast with an expert: The winning team and 2 runners-up can select an industry expert to receive feedback on their business idea.
  • Two student tickets for the IAC Bremen (1-5 Oct 2018), the world’s largest conference and exhibition in the space sector, sponsored by ZARM, Bremen (value: EUR 230)
  • A free trip to the ESNC Awards Ceremony 2018, the Space Oscars,  on 4 Dec 2018 in Marseille
  • Access to tailored E-GNSS Accelerator business support worth EUR 62,000 (if eligible)
  • An extra EUR 10,000 cash prize if your idea gets selected as ESNC 2018 Overall Winner
  • In addition, Aviaspace and StartHaus Bremen will promote the winning idea in dedicated marketing activities through their various distribution channels (e.g. website, mailings).

Furthermore, the winner and two runners-up will be invited and supported to apply for a business incubation programme with the ESA BIC North Germany, based in Bremen, scheduled to open its gates later this year with a catchment area covering the states of Bremen, Hamburg, Lower Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein, Mecklenburg Western Pomerania, Berlin and Brandenburg. The programme provides startups with technical, business and financial support. Upon successful approval, incubatees will be eligible for an additional funding of EUR 50,000 from ESA and the State of Bremen.*

 

*In order to receive the cash prize and rent free co-working space, the winning team has to be registered in Bremen. The same applies to applicants for the ESA BIC North Germany incubation programme.

    Airplane wings, Ariane rockets and Galileo satellites – Bremen is one of the leading locations in the international aeronautics and space industries.

    The federal state of The Free Hanseatic City of Bremen is among the best places in the world for aeronautics and space industries. The sectors consist of more than 140 companies and 20 research institutes and universities with approximately 12,000 employees and an annual turnover of more than 4 billion euros. Major contributors to this innovation cluster are leading enterprises in the sector with R&D and production activities such as Airbus, ArianeGroup, Rheinmetall Defence Electronics, OHB and their supplier companies.

    As part of the Bremen Innovation Cluster Strategy, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labor and Ports commissioned AVIASPACE BREMEN e. V. to implement specifically the Space Industries and Aeronautics Strategy of the State of Bremen. The goal is to strengthen the space industries and aeronautics sectors through cross clustering with other sectors such as the automotive industry, wind energy and shipbuilding.

    Key areas are network formation, technology transfer, and economic growth through fostering young entrepreneurs and start-ups. This includes both, technical and organizational networking between final producers, suppliers and/or service providers and scientific institutions in the fields of material development, high-lift systems, construction, manufacturing technology, earth observation and robotics.
